About NJD

The Network for Justice and Democracy is a duly registered and internationally recongnised non-governmental organization. The NGO is a recipient of grants from the World Bank, United States office to combat and monitor Human Trafficking and the United Nations office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Geneva, Switzerland.

Its core competencies include promoting and defending reproductive rights, gender equality and promoting reproductive rights and advancing the cause of democracy through advocacy, education and research

NJD ia a registered as a non-governmental, non-political, non-religious and voluntary organization.

NJD's vision is to become a model international non-governmental organization, legal resources and development center in the Sub Saharan Africa providing essential legal services, database, counseling and advocacy in all areas of women’s reproductive and other rights to ensure the achievement of women’s right to self-determination in keeping with their freedom, dignity and values.

NJD exists to promote and defend reproductive rights, gender equality, combat the ills of human trafficking and advance the cause of democracy through research, advocacy, education and mobilization.

OBJECTIVES
  • To promote and defend the reproductive rights of women;

  • To encourage gender equality and equity; protect and advance the progress and empowerment of women and girls in the society;

  • To advance the cause of democracy through mobilizing women to participate in politics and decision making organs in both private and public sectors;

  • To liaise with governments, local and international NGO’s and other stakeholders towards ensuring that reproductive health rights receive highest government priorities;

  • To provide legal aids, advocacy, counseling and support to widows, victims of human trafficking, rape, HIV/AIDS and other reproductive rights abuses;

  • To conduct systematic researches, seminars and workshops in reproductive health rights and publish the researches findings and reports to enhance the reproductive health rights and status of girls and women;

  • To embark on information, education and communication campaigns against discrimination and the elimination of all harmful traditional practices against women.

  • To collaborate with governments, local and international non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders who share our vision.
